Components of UX Design

There are five main components involved in UX design.

According to The UX Design Institute they are:

  1. Strategy
  2. Scope
  3. Structure
  4. Skelton
  5. Surface

Strategy

This stage of the UX design process is where objectives are set about the end goal of the design and the end goals of the users.

Scope

In this stage every feature and detail of the products specifications are planned out. Any additional content that will be included in the final product are detailed and planned out here too.

Structure

The navigation through the products interface, whether a physical one or a digital one, is decided in this stage. A conceptual map is made that shows how the user will interact with the product.
Skeleton
This is where each part of the product is arranged in the design. For example, the parts of the product might be physical buttons, links, images, or text that the user will interact with.
Surface

This is where the visual design of the product comes into play. The sensory experience of the product is the "surface" over the rest of the design. Things like color theory are used in this part of the design process.
