What's Next?
This semester, we’ve covered a lot of core topics surrounding web writing, including the basics of HTML and CSS. You are well on your way to expanding your skills as a technical communicator to include the intricacies of the digital environment.
If your curiosity was piqued by coding and building web pages, you may be wondering . . . what’s next? I thought it would be helpful to put together some resources where you can learn more about these topics:
- HTML and CSS: If you need a refresher of the basics, start with the tutorials at Interneting is Hard or follow along with the MDN Learn web development guide.
- Responsive web design: The next big step is for you to take what you’ve learned and practice building in a responsive environment. freeCodeCamp’s Responsive Web Design course is a great place to start.
- JavaScript: Interested in diving deeper? Learn JS will teach you the fundamentals of JavaScript.
- SEO: Learn the basics of search engine optimization (SEO) via Moz's Beginner's Guide to SEO.
I have used these resources myself; I hope you find them helpful.
